The masterminds of a Delray Beach seafood hot-spot are bringing a new restaurant to Downtown at the Gardens.

The co-owners of Mussel Beach on East Atlantic Avenue are preparing to open their latest venture – Manhattan Beach Grill. They hope the eatery in Palm Beach Gardens will be open in September or October, co-owner David McCorison said.

Manhattan Beach Grill, next to Yard House in the outdoor shopping center’s southern end, replaces RA Sushi. The Japanese-inspired bar and restaurant chain closed about eight months ago.

McCorison said the owners plan to carry a good portion of their menu from Mussel Beach over to Manhattan Beach Grill, but with a lot more appetizers, burgers, family-style food and sushi. The Palm Beach Gardens bar and restaurant will have about 20 beers on tap, four or five wines and a full martini and mixed-drink menu, he said.

“We’re looking to compete menu-wise with Yard House, but hopefully have our food will be a little more upscale,” McCorison said.

Mussel Beach has been open for a little more than a year and a half, but the owners are already trying to replicate the success they’ve had there.

“We recognize almost everybody that comes in,” McCorison said.

The five-person team includes husband and wife Mark and Patti Mezzancello, and brother and sister Helene and John Rahal. Their recipe for success?

“Trying to pack the house every night” while offering the best food possible, McCorison said.
