The former Panama Hatties restaurant, a popular eatery in north county, is being demolished to make room for 95 residential units on the 8-acres on the southeast corner of the Intracoastal Waterway and PGA Boulevard.

The restaurant and its open-air Rum Bar closed in late August.

Nick Mastroianni, who built Harbourside Place in Jupiter, is developing the project.

Plans call for “a very high-end, gated-type community with multiple buildings and waterfront townhomes” and private parking underground, said Mastroianni, who is president of Alled Capital & Development.
