Michael Jordan is busy in South Florida real estate these days. An investment group that includes Michael Jordan is currently constucting a new Palm Beach Gardens restaurant. Now, Treasure Coast Newspapers report that basketball legend Michael Jordan is the principal owner of a venture to build a private 18-hole golf course in southern Martin County. Jordan leads a team of about 25 investors in a proposed golf course development on 227 acres in Hobe Sound.
Current zoning permits development of a golf course on the 227-acre site, located north of the Hobe Sound Polo Club on Bridge Road and south of Atlantic Ridge State Park.
Jordan, principal owner of the National Basketball Association’s Charlotte Hornets, was named the NBA’s most valuable player five times during his 15-year career as a player for the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards.
The construction cost of his Hobe Sound golf project, excluding the cost of land, would range from $15 million to $20 million.
Treasure Coast Newspapers also reported that The Grove Golf Club LLC, based in West Palm Beach, would be the developer of Jordan’s golf course.
Lucido & Associates, a representative of Jordan’s investor group, has submitted an application to develop the proposed golf course to Martin County officials. The application indicated that the private golf course would be open to 180 members.
The site has no acreage that would require environmental protection or preservation, according to Lucido & Associates. [Treasure Coast Newspapers] — Mike Seemuth
