Lavalee planned to open by now but he said he ran into some unexpected isues that are being ironed out.

“Everybody’s asking when we will open,” said Lavalee.

The new eatery, the ninth in the chain, will have 176 indoor seats. There will be no outdoor seating, which was originally planned.

The one-story, brick building was formerly an Applebee’s restaurant, which closed in May.

Lavalee, who started PA BBQ in 1988 in Lake Park and now has about 400 employees, plans to hire about 50 people in his ninth restaurant.

Applebee’s restaurant in Jupiter West Plaza closed in May. Dean Lavalee, the owner of PA BBQ & Grill, has signed a lease on the one-story, brick building. Unlike the other eight PA’s that just sell beer and wine, this store also will sell a limited amount of “alcoholic craft cocktails that compliment BBQ,” Lavalee said.
