Big box building proposed for Jupiter’s Abacoa

Self storage building proposed in Abacoa A 90,000-square-foot, three story storage building on a vacant 2-acre parcel in Abacoa is scheduled for a preliminary vote at the Aug. 18 town council meeting. The town’s planning and zoning staff recommends denial of the plan on two vacant acres on the southeast corner of Frederick Small Road and Sweet Bay Circle in Abacoa, about 150 feet west of Alternate A1A. The storage facility does not fit with the surrounding community, according to the planning report. The storage facility also does not fit in with the town’s plan for pedestrian-friendly environment within ½ mile of a potential Tri-Rail station near the property, says the report. New luxury condo on Intracoastal Waterway nears finish

The development is being built by the Kolter Group. The gated community is planned to have 74 condominiums in each tower on the east side of U.S. 1 south of PGA Boulevard in North Palm Beach. Just How High Might Mortgage Rates Go?

We’ve ridden the absurdly low interest rates train for more than seven years now; is that money-saving journey coming to an end? Not sure you noticed, but from January to June, 30-year fixed mortgage rates actually crept up from 3.7% to 4.2%; they are now hovering around 4%. According to our chief economist, Jonathan Smoke, a 6% interest rate is “normal.” But Smoke doesn’t see us hitting that in the next two years: “We will likely see less than a 100 basis point increase over the next two years, which would bring us to around 5.5% in 2017.” Still below normal! Get set for burritos & margaritas at this new Mexican eatery

Aug. 27 is the scheduled opening day for Cabo Flats Cantina and Tequila Bar on U.S. 1 in Jupiter. Finishing touches are being done on the new restaurant in Jupiter. The photo is provided by Bill Diablo. The Mexican restaurant specializes in margaritas, specialty cocktails, fajitas, chimichurri steak, burritos and tacos. Based in Boca Raton, there are also Cabo Flats in West Palm Beach, Delray Beach and Stuart. The new restaurant, located in the former Gulfstream restaurant, will have seating for 262 people, including 62 outdoor seats, according to Adam Robin, director of operations.
