Ground clearing has started for Lakewood, approved by the town council last summer, a residential/commerce development that calls for 275 single- and multi-family units.
A 5,000-square-foot restaurant, 150,000 square feet of biotech office/research space and a 15,000-square-foot pharmacy are also planned on the property, also known as Parcel 19.
The original plan by developer Otto “Buz” DiVosta called for 350 houses with a 20-pump gas station.
Lakewood sparked opposition from some residents about noise and traffic.
The developers reduced the number of housing units, dropped the gas station and shrank the size of the restaurant for the gated development.
The site plan for a CVS pharmacy for Lakewood is scheduled to go before the town’s planning and zoning commission June 9 at 7 p.m.
