A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the $8 million of improvements to A1A is planned at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the public parking lot in the Inlet Village, 1021 North Highway A1A in Jupiter.
Started in Nov., 2014, the project includes installing new drainage, building bicycle lanes, planting landscaping, constructing on-street parking and sidewalks are part of the plan for the three-quarter mile stretch from U.S. Route 1 south to Jupiter Beach Road.
Burying powerlines is part of the project. That has not been completed.
Speed bumps and new signs have been installed on the section of roadway on A1A that is now under Jupiter’s jurisdiction.
Before the project, these bicycle riders on A1A north of Jupiter Beach Road had no bicycle lanes and used the sidewalk. New bicycle lanes have been installed on both sides of A1A. (Photo by Bill Ingram)
