The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale announced that Powerhouse Gym will open a 20,000-square-foot facility in spring 2018, its first in South Florida.
The gym will have a juice bar, tanning, and massage therapy. Renderings suggest the gym will feature an indoor soccer practice area in addition to exercise equipment and fitness classes. The space will be designed by Jewel Toned Interiors.
Powerhouse Gym will be located near H&M and the offices at Regus, and will be the first gym at the Galleria at 2414 East Sunrise Boulevard.
Redevelopment plans for the Galleria hit several snags earlier this year. In March, Galleria Mall’s owner, Keystone-Florida Property Holding Corp., was forced to reapply for 33.4-acres of land after commissioners in Fort Lauderdale deferred a vote on the $750 million dollar redevelopment plan.
In May, Keystone-Florida Property Holding Corp. withdrew plans to build seven condominium buildings with 1,250 units around the Galleria. James K. McAdam, president of Keystone-Florida told the city in a letter the company will propose a new mixed-use residential development on Galleria property that complies with existing zoning.
