The Burt Reynolds Park is extending its closing date do to the majority public crying foul.
After hearing from disgruntled boaters and doing further study, county officials are not closing Burt Reynolds Park until Dec. 31.
The park was to close June 1 to demolish a building, add boat trailer parking and install a lighted underpass for pedestrians to walk under U.S. 1 to get to and from the east and west sides of the park.

No date has been set for the construction work to begin. So stay tuned for those details.
Plans call for demolishing the current vacant building that was the home of the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce. The chamber moved out in 2013 and is now in Palm Beach Gardens.
The 1980-built structure will be replaced with a public restroom.
Plans call for adding two dozen parking spaces for vehicles with boat trailers, bring the total to 71 spaces. The number of parking spaces for vehicles without trailers will be reduced from 26 to 10.
More boat trailer parking is being built at Waterway Park in Jupiter.
No changes to the public boat ramps at Burt Reynolds Park are planned. Total cost for the the project is about $1.7 million.
Additional public boat ramps are located on the east side of Burt Reynolds Park and at Bert Winters Park and Juno Park.
