The town square at the master-planned Tradition community in Port St. Lucie

Home builder PulteGroup bought 205 acres for an undisclosed price in the 8,300-acre, master-planned Tradition community in Port St. Lucie.

Pulte plans to build 550 homes on the land, and it will be the company’s first active-adult community in southeast Florida bearing the Del Webb brand.

Sales and construction for Del Webb at Tradition are scheduled to start next year.

Del Webb at Tradition will be located in the Southern Groves section of Tradition, where the next phase of residential and commercial development will unfold in the master-planned community. Keiser University recently spent $14 million to build a campus on a nearby site.

While site work for Del Webb at Tradition is under way, Pulte plans to operate a temporary sales office on Town Center Boulevard near Tradition Square.
