Fort Lauderdale-based developer Abraham Baker’s Mazex Holding LLC just filed plans with the city of Miami Gardens to develop a 600,000-square-foot resort hotel on nearly 40 acres of land near the stadium, according the South Florida Business Journal.
The city, which owns the land at the northeast corner of Northwest 189th Street and Northwest 27th Avenue, is expected to negotiate financial terms of the deal this week.
The developer plans to build a nine- to 10-story resort hotel with 400 rooms. The project would have 1,200-square-foot suites and 3,400-square-foot executive suites with three bedrooms and a kitchen. Amenities would include a pool deck with a performance stage, a 400-seat restaurant and bar, a spa, daycare facility, fitness center, public park, rooftop bar and conference center and auditorium.
Ross, founder and chairman of the Related Companies and owner of the Miami Dolphins, recently invested about $500 million into renovating and rebranding Hard Rock Stadium.
