Morton Group to start building Delray condo

Boca Raton-based Morton Group Inc. is set to start construction of a 48-unit condominium in Delray Beach called The Metropolitan. Prices for the two- and three-bedroom condos will start in the $600,000s and will range in size up to 1,600 square feet. Architect and Delray resident Richard Jones is designing the five-story building, which will feature will retail shops,  office space, a rooftop deck and a public plaza. The development site is a half block from East Atlantic Avenue, a popular nightlife corridor in Delray Beach. Macy’s closures hit South Florida: CityPlace store set to close by year’s end

Macy’s will shutter 68 stores across the United States, including five in Florida, following disappointing holiday sales. The department store giant will close its 108,000-square-foot store at CityPlace in West Palm Beach, an outdoor mall owned by the Related Companies, by the end of 2017. The other Florida stores are in Lakeland, Oviedo, Sarasota and Tampa. It opened at CityPlace, 575 South Rosemary Avenue, in 2000. At 108,000 square feet, that means the store occupies more than 15 percent of CityPlace, a 698,472-square-foot property. Macy’s announced in August that it would close 100 stores. Wendy’s out in Tequesta, new business on the way in

The Wendy’s restaurant has closed on U.S. 1 in Countyline Plaza on U.S. 1  in Tequesta, but owners of the Publix-anchored plaza on the west side of U.S. 1 say it won’t be long until the now-empty building is occupied. “We’re talking now to businesses who want to move in. We have a 100 percent occupancy rate at this plaza. It won’t be long until there is a new tenant in here,” said Trish Naya Norene, the executive director of the plaza. That section of U.S. 1 in Tequesta  is scheduled for a major renovation, including reducing the number of vehicle driving lanes from four to six, dropping the speed limit, adding lighting and building new landscaping. Relax with glass of wine at new, cozy experience in Palm Beach Gardens

If your New Year’s resolutions included expanding your wine palate, you’re in luck.  Cooper’s Hawk, a wine bar and “upscale casual” restaurant with outdoor seating, is set to open this spring at the second floor of The Gardens Mall, 3101 PGA Blvd. The 10,000-square-foot Palm Beach Gardens restaurant on the second floor between Sears and Macy’s should open between the end of March and mid-April, said Erin Devlin, the mall’s special events and PR director. It will have a new, shaded patio that can seat 48 guests. Cooper’s Hawk’s proposal includes another 202 seats inside the restaurant.
