Mini-golf course may be coming to Abacoa

A miniature golf course in Abacoa will bring more families to the live-work-play community off Donald Ross Road, say supporters of the plan submitted to the town. “It’s not going to another Pirateland. The course will be a naturally landscaped setting with an authentic Jupiter feel,” said Josh Simon, a principal with FLF ATC LLC. The Jupiter-based company in March paid $5.1 million for 93,000 square feet of Abacoa commercial property, along with about 3 acres of vacant land that would be used for the golf course. The plan calls for spending about $500,000 to build the 18-hole course. If approved by the town council, the course would be open in about a year, Simon said. Two big projects up for approval in Palm Beach Gardens

The United Technologies’ Center for Intelligent Buildings that has been talked about for months is up for final approval at the Palm Beach Gardens City Council meeting 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 10500 North Military Trail. The company chose the city for its 265,000-square-foot, six-story showcase in early July. Officials have said the center on the Briger tract, near Interstate 95 and Donald Ross Road, will bring a $115 million capital investment and 380 new jobs. A Palm Beach Post article Monday about a real estate group’s plans to build 124 luxury apartments in Palm Beach Gardens touched a nerve with some residents. United Technologies’ plan for a building to showcase its equipment in Palm Beach Gardens is up for city officials’ review and could have final approval by October.
