The Downtown at the Gardens shopping center is in for some big changes, but first, the Whole Foods there will get some freshening up of its own.

Renovations at Whole Foods at the outdoor shopping mall off PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens will start this fall and take about six months to finish, according to spokeswoman Heather McCready. The store will stay open for business throughout construction. The changes include “food trend-inspired innovations” and upgrades based on customer feedback.

There will be improvements to the lighting and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system for energy efficiency, McCready said in an email.

The Whole Foods at Downtown at the Gardens opened in October 2005, according to McCready.
