For its 60th birthday, the village of North Palm Beach is getting a new master plan.

That may not sound exciting, but it will determine the development and redevelopment of the village for decades. Will it attract business? Will it stay an attractive place for families to raise their children? Residents said they hope so during a daylong workshop Saturday, during which they pitched ideas such as a water taxi, more shops and restaurants and better access for pedestrians.

On Friday night, they will get to see the brainchild a team of planners, engineers and architects. The team will present the work-in-progress on the new master plan 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5 at The Conservatory School, 401 Anchorage Dr.

The new master plan coincides with the village building a new Country Clubhouse. The village decided not to move the clubhouse to the waterfront at the recommendation of Jack Nicklaus, who designed the golf course.
