Land clearing has started for new construction at Braman BMW Jupiter on the north side of Indiantown Road, one of many projects recently finished, ongoing and planned on the town’s main east-west roadway.

Plans call for demolition of the existing 16,000-square-foot building for Braman BMW and construction of a new 18,000-square-foot building for sales, service and display.

Other Indiantown Road projects:

  • Walmart, located just west of Braman BMW, is spending about $12 million to add a grocery store and boost the 128,000-square-foot building just east of Chasewood Plaza on Indiantown Road at Center Street to about 165,000 square feet. Completion is planned in the spring.

  • The developers of Harbourside plan to open the $150 million marina/hotel/retail/entertainment complex in the fall on the northwest corner of Indiantown Road and U.S. 1.
  • Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas, the Mexico-based company renovating the former Paragon Jupiter Cinema on U.S. 1 on Indiantown Road across from Harbourside, plans to open in November. The new theatre in the former  Paragon Theatre is scheduled to have about 1,400 seats. Movie patrons will summon Cinepolis staff for food and drinks at the touch of a blue button on the arm rest of their leather seats.

  • The Fresh Market opened in May in Fisherman’s Wharf shopping center on the north side of Indiantown Road, between Alternate A1A and the Intracoastal Waterway.
  • A new Chipotle restaurant opened last month in the Chasewood Plaza on the southeast corner of Indiantown Road and Central Blvd. A Hurricane Grill & Wings restaurant plans to open in the same plaza. Jacksonville-based Regency Centers, owners of the Publix-anchored plaza, are completing a major renovation that includes demolishing a 13,000-square-foot building, new landscaping and a new traffic pattern.

  • Lakewood, a 275-unit residential development on 260 vacant acres on the northwest corner of Indiantown Road and Florida’s Turnpike, was approved by the Jupiter town council in July. Plans for the gated community call for a 5,000-square-foot restaurant, 150,000 square feet of biotech and a 15,000-square-foot pharmacy. Construction is expected to begin early next year.
  • Construction is expected to begin by early next year for the Boyd Medical two-story building on the northwest corner of Indiantown Road and North Hepburn Avenue. The current 5,000-square-foot office building will be demolished and replaced by the new 8,400-square foot building on the half-acre parcel.
  • The Maltz Jupiter Theatre at the northwest corner of Indiantown Road and A1A is completing about $2.5 million in renovations to add seating and upgrade the former Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre.

  • The owners of the 12-pump Circle K gas station on the south side of ­Indiantown Road just west of Alternate A1A have applied to demolish the current building and replace it with a building with 20 gas pumps. The 1,800-square-foot store would be replaced by one of about 4,400 square feet.
