Public hearing on the proposal planned at Jupiter town hall on Nov. 10

A proposal to build a mixed-use commercial development on a 3.8-acre lot on Love Street and A1A in Jupiter is scheduled to go before the town’s planning and zoning commission at 7 p.m. on Nov. 10 at town hall.

Charles Modica, the Hobe Sound developer who owns and plans to develop Suni Sands, owns 2 acres of the property. The other 1.8 acres is owned by the town.

The plan calls for Modica to give the town property he owns near Saturn Street. In exchange, the town would give Modica the 1.8 acres.

The town would use the Saturn Street property for a 300-vehicle surface parking lot, according to the proposal.

The Love Street property is now being used for a surface parking lot for nearby businesses.

The plan calls for a vacation rentals, marine facility restaurants, offices and a parking garage.

There would be about 20 different buildings.

The planning and zoning commission makes recommendations to the town council, which is not bound by the commission’s recommendation.

The plan is scheduled to go before the town council on Dec. 15.
