The first Hyatt Centric hotel in Broward County, and the third in Florida, will have 238 rooms at 100 Las Olas, a condo-hotel building Kolter is developing at 100 East Las Olas Boulevard.

It would be the first hotel to open on Fort Lauderdale’s iconic Las Olas Boulevard since 1936, when the Riverside Hotel opened under its original name, the Champ Carr Hotel.

West Palm Beach-based Kolter expects to start construction of the hotel in mid-2017 and to finish it in 2020.

Kolter also will build 121 condos as part of the mixed-use 100 Las Olas development. OneWorld Properties is marketing the residences at non-penthouse prices that range from less than $800,000 to over $2 million.

Hyatt Hotels Corp., headquartered in Chicago, introduced its Hyatt Centric brand two years ago to appeal to millennials and other travelers who prefer proximity to urban hubs of commercial and social activity.
