Big box building proposed for Jupiter’s Abacoa

Self storage building proposed in Abacoa A 90,000-square-foot, three story storage building on a vacant 2-acre parcel in Abacoa is scheduled for a preliminary vote at the Aug. 18 town council meeting. The town’s planning and zoning staff recommends denial of the plan on two vacant acres on the southeast corner of Frederick Small Road and Sweet Bay Circle in Abacoa, about 150 feet west of Alternate A1A. The storage facility does not fit with the surrounding community, according to the planning report. The storage facility also does not fit in with the town’s plan for pedestrian-friendly environment within ½ mile of a potential Tri-Rail station near the property, says the report. The development is being built by the Kolter Group. The gated community is planned to have 74 condominiums in each tower on the east side of U.S. 1 south of PGA Boulevard in North Palm Beach. Water Club twin 19-story buildings begin construction in North Palm Beach

Water Club will be gated (Photo by Bill DiPaolo) Work has started on the Kolter Group’s project to build twin 19-story buildings on the Intracoastal Waterway called Water Club, across from the Benjamin School about a mile south of PGA Boulevard. Plans for the seven-acre parcel include 74 condos in each building, which will have parking on the bottom floor. Twenty townhouses are also planned on the east side of the property. Plans call for Water Club to be a gated community. A private dock on the Intracoastal Waterway for residents is planned. Construction costs are expected to be about $70 million.
